
Learning disabilities are a common cause of frustration for children and adults. It is estimated that up to 15 percent of Americans have some form of disability learning. By definition, defined as psychological or neurological conditions that affect a person's ability to communicate and learn effectively.
While people with disorders such as ADHD and autism may well also have learning problems, these disorders do not belong to the category of disability learning. The diagnoses that pertain to them, however, can vary greatly, from disturbances in reading, such as dyslexia, to not allow disorders understanding of mathematics, such as dyscalculia.
Those who are plagued with learning difficulties are not always high or low intelligence, despite the presence on both ends of the spectrum are possible. Similarly, a person born with a learning disability is not necessarily born with a learning disability. In contrast, the person simply has a deterioration of transformation, as hearing impaired or visually impaired, which makes their ability to learn a routine of teaching particularly difficult.
While learning disabilities can weaken a person's ability to learn, the damage they often fall into deep crevices. Some people, especially children with learning disabilities may have serious self esteem issues, anger problems, behavioral problems and a desire to leave things as school or extracurricular activities.
How yoga helps
The treatment of a learning disability can vary from person to person. disabilities require different treatment options and even then, therapy should be determined on an individual: what works for one person with dyslexia may not work for another. However, yoga, because it focuses on disability but the person, can benefit a variety of people with a variety of learning problems.
Self-esteem: Self-esteem can be a hard thing for some people to obtain, especially when that person feels as if something wrong with them. Yoga is a vehicle self-awareness, self-realization and self-acceptance, three things must work together to increase the feeling of a person of himself, ultimately solidifying self-esteem.
People who do yoga feel better about themselves and the world around them. They are motivated, better able to cope with the difficulties a disability or learning disabilities, can contribute. Yoga also helps them gain acceptance of their disability, have to accept that and learn what can help to minimize the effects of it. Yoga also provides time for self-reflection, helping students to become less influenced by the refusal of its capabilities and more influenced by their positive.
Conscious Breathing: If a function that can help almost anything, is probably the act of breathing conscious. Breathing helps a person in many levels.
From a movement to provide greater oxidation, to rid the body of stagnant energy to put in fresh forces, breathing helps people to be more in tune, more capable, stronger and more ready to learn.
Breathing can also help thwart an essential element of learning: frustration .. Because of the frustration comes with almost all learning problems, with some people succumb to the aggravation and hampers their ability to learn even more, the breathing techniques taught in yoga can help people relax, rejuvenate, and try again.
Concentration: The ability to concentrate is an important factor in the ability to learn. Often, those with difficulties learning disabilities have an ability to concentrate. Yoga, however, facilitates concentration .. Not only the actual practice of requiring students to focus on their breath as they weave through the poses, but yoga also gives them the ability to concentrate when you are in the study.
Yoga increases circulation of oxygen and blood to the brain, allowing people to focus, to concentrate and remember things more clearly. It also stimulates the central nervous system, the system serves as a messenger between the brain and the rest of the body. Through conscious meditation and other practices of yoga, people become more focused and balanced, allowing them to focus on the tasks at hand with increased attention.
Eye Movements: People who have dyslexia, a disability that affects reading and writing, can especially benefit from the practice of yoga. This is because parts of yoga involving eye exercises, with students forming attitudes and focus on a particular place for an extended period of time. These eye exercises can increase the efficiency of the optic nerve, relax the muscles of the face, and increase the functionality of certain brain areas. These benefits all work together to improve a person's ability to focus visually, helping them to correctly recognize the words in the process.
People with learning difficulties may need a wide range of therapies. Children, in particular, may require one to one attention during class or tutoring. Even with treatment, however, learning problems may not disappear altogether. Because many are biological or genetic, some people are programmed to learn differently than others. However, yoga can help those affected to accept their disability and gain strength, eliminating the focus of your disability and commissioning capabilities.
